About Prague by metro, tram and train: the back story

Prague runs on one ticket: the PID network covers the metro, the trams, the buses and the Petřín funicular. A 30-minute ticket costs CZK 36 in the PID Lítačka app (CZK 39 on paper), 90 minutes CZK 46 (50), 24 hours CZK 140 (150) and 72 hours CZK 340 (350). The Airport Express bus links Václav Havel Airport Prague with Praha hlavní nádraží, the main station, for the trains.

The metro and trams

Three metro lines, A (green), B (yellow) and C (red), cross at Můstek, Muzeum and Florenc; trams run day and night.

Tickets

Full fares (ages 15–60), app / paper: 30 min CZK 36 / 39, 90 min CZK 46 / 50, 24 hours CZK 140 / 150, 72 hours CZK 340 / 350 (pid.cz). One piece of luggage needs its own CZK 25 ticket on paper fares.

Buy a 24- or 72-hour ticket in the PID Lítačka app before you board.

From the airport

The Airport Express (AE) runs from Terminals 1 and 2 to the main station; the journey depends on traffic. Works on the Aviatická intersection lengthen road journeys at rush hour; public transport is not affected (prg.aero).

The trains

České dráhy and RegioJet run from Praha hlavní nádraží, the largest station in the country, an Art Nouveau landmark on metro line C.

Our advice: validate a paper ticket when you first board, and keep it until you leave the vehicle.
