About Terezín Memorial
The Terezín Memorial preserves the places of the Nazi occupation at Terezín, about 45 minutes’ drive north of Prague: the police prison in the Small Fortress, and the Terezín ghetto, where from November 1941 Jews were deported from Bohemia and Moravia and later from Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Denmark, Slovakia and Hungary. More than 140,000 people were brought there, and more than 35,000 died there, as the Memorial records. It was established in 1947. Its sites include the Small Fortress, the Ghetto Museum, the former Magdeburg Barracks, the Prayer Room, and the Jewish Cemetery and Crematorium.
